Longchamp has been in the leather goods business since its founder, Jean Cassegrain, expanded on his father's Parisian tobbaconist business in the 1950s; it was the introduction of the "Le Pliage" folding handbag in the 1990s that launched Longchamp as a global brand. Its Fifth Avenue boutique, one of 1500 worldwide, sits on the east side of Fifth Avenue between 51st and 52nd Streets on the ground floor of the Olympic Tower Building.
